The Vermessung und Karten Abteilung 61 is a group of enthusiastic individuals dedicated to portraying the daily life and activities of the the personnel assigned to the Surveying and Mapping detachments of the German Army during the Second World War. We seek to recreate an atmosphere that reflects, as closely as possible, the activities of a particular time and place from 1940 to 1945 as was experienced by the surveying team assigned to the 11th Panzer Division. Through educational displays and demonstration at public events and privately sponsored living history and tactical events, we seek to education the public regarding the role of non-combat units in the German Army and to spark interest in history through our efforts.
